Briefs encounter: Thief knicks knickers driven by ‘brief’ madness (2025)

A kinky underwear thief reportedly driven by a psychological disorder stole an entire collection of a restaurant PR worker’s underwear.

The incident occurred in Mueang district, Samut Songkhram province, and was captured on CCTV. The footage shows a man circling the victim’s house on a motorcycle before committing the theft.

On Sunday, 30 year old Jariya, a PR worker at a local restaurant, reported the theft of 10 pairs of underwear and five branded bras, worth over 3,000 baht. The items had been hanging outside her home in Moo 3, Lat Yai subdistrict.

CCTV footage captured at 1.47am on March 30 clearly shows the thief, a man in a short-sleeved T-shirt, shorts, cap, and sunglasses, with his face partially obscured. He circled the house four times before parking nearby, stealthily pilfering the underwear, and swiftly escaping on his motorcycle.

Jariya recounted that on the evening of March 29, before heading to work around 7.30pm, she had washed and hung her underwear on the inner wall of her yard. Upon returning from work, she didn’t notice anything amiss.

However, the following evening, when she was preparing to leave for work, she realised the underwear was missing. After asking her friends, who were unaware of the situation, they reviewed the CCTV footage and discovered the theft. Jariya expressed her distress over the loss, as she now has to buy new items.

She further mentioned that she had previously been warned about a man in the area with similar behaviour who would stop his motorcycle to sniff underwear. Initially, she dismissed these warnings until this incident occurred, reported KhaoSod.

Believing the same man is responsible, she has filed a complaint with the Mueang Samut Songkhram Police Station, urging the police to apprehend the suspect. Jariya also warned locals to remain vigilant and seek information on the suspect to prevent further incidents.
